Many of the photographs depict individuals and scenes around Princess Anne and Somerset County, Maryland, as well as Washington, D.C. and the University of Maryland. Also included is an instructional pamphlet for the dry plate development process.

Folklife Collection - Local Legends: Salisbury Lynching

In a series of interviews of local Eastern Shore residents during the years of 1970 to 1973, former Salisbury University students and professors collected folk legends. For this collection, these interviews focus on various stories and accounts of a African American Man who raped a women in Princess Anne, Maryland. Local residents angered took to the street and hung the assailant in a tree at the judges home. The collection also includes a few other accounts of hangings in the Delmarva area. Most interviews include personal descriptions of the interviewer and informant, and the story.

Freedom Ainsworth papers

The Freedom Ainsworth papers document the restoration and preservation efforts of three of the Manokin Historic District’s oldest structures Beckford Manor, Almodington and More And Case It (also known as Holly Hurst), located in Princess Anne, Md. The materials date from 1766-1767, 1803-1999 with the bulk of the material dating from the purchase and restoration of the three structures, 1967-1994. Restoration activities, as well as property histories, are documented via correspondence, detailed measurements and notes, architectural drawings, and photographs. Also documented through a series of ledgers are the accounting transactions of Henry Smith Lankford and H. Fillmore Lankford as well as various merchants from Somerset Count including Teackle Dennis and Teackle.

The John Jacob Collection consists of two parts that document the life and career of attorney and historian, John E. Jacob, Jr.: collected material and personal research. Jacob also kept detailed handwritten notes and indices when researching various topics related to the history of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, as well as his handwritten drafts for books and lectures, which comprise series two of the collection. Lions Club Collection

This collection contains a series of photographs of the Lions Club and its members. Some of the pictures are of members, others are of events, one of which took place at Princess Anne Elementary. There are two photographs that do not directly correspond to the Lions Club group, one is of a store front with three men standing on the porch, and the other is of a school class. In addition, there is a newspaper article about the awarding of a plaque to previous Lions Club presidents as well as a notice of the annual Lions Black Out Minstrel Show. There is also a clip from the "County Officer Magazine" with a message from the President of National Association of County Officials.

The Louise Messick Moyer papers date from 1900-2006, with the bulk of the material dating from 1990-2005. The Princess Anne Chapter of the Business and Professional Women’s club was founded in 1956. These records from Princess Anne, Maryland, 1956-1996, reflect the chapters organizational practices and extensively showcases the club’s activeness and successfulness within its community and its members. The club aimed at empowering its women members to the betterment of their professionalism in hopes of creating a better functioning business community. This was promoted by the individual development workshops, community service, participation in committees, and various programs hosted by the club. With the numerous meeting minutes, finance records, history books and newspaper clipping, the fulfillment of the club’s objectives can be seen through its many accomplishments and accolades. Additional records include the Delta Kappa Gamma records, highlight a few of the societies sacred rites, as well as documents the chapter's activities from 1971-1975 through meeting minutes, budgets, and programs.

Princess Anne Rotary Club records

The Princess Anne Rotary Club records document the clubs history from its founding in 1928 until their dissolve in 2000, with the bulk of the materials documenting their most active years from 1959-1979. The records also document their involvement within the Princess Anne, Maryland community. Activities, such as annual Ladies Nights, are documented along with the thanks given to the club for their community engagement in the public relations correspondence folder. Weekly meeting minutes contain the bulk of the records, documenting community engagement, membership, and finances. Year Highlights, wrote by the secretary, are summaries of the weekly meeting minutes for each fiscal year. Membership documentation appear through attendance and membership roll books. Financial records contain annual budgets, donations, and money given to the community. The club’s weekly newsletter, Rotary Tattler, discusses important facts from weekly meeting minutes, membership activity, and community projects. Washington Hotel Collection

This collection contains 5 series of materials that relate to either the Washington Hotel or the town of Princess Anne. The first series comprises of Ledgers, which include 39 hotel registers, 15 cash account books and 9 other ledgers. Series II contains music related items, including sheet music that ranges in date from the 1880s to the 1920s and includes artists such as Irving Berlin, John Phillip Sousa and Stephen Foster. Also included in this series are issues of The Etude a musical magazine, ranging from 1901 to 1927. Finally in this series there are songbooks that range in date from 1888 to 1921. Series III contains manuscripts that relate to the Washington Hotel and John D. Wallop as proprietor of it. This series ranges in date from 1900 to 1920, and includes receipts, correspondence, and solicitations to the hotel, menus, and financial records. Series IV contains manuscripts relating to the town of Princess Anne and John D. Wallop serving as mayor of the town. This series ranges in date from 1909 to 1914 and contains correspondence, receipts, and public works related correspondence and receipts. Series V contains artifacts and is comprised of one Vee Dee Sherry bottle and a child’s vest.
